According to the victim's complaint, in 2015, the relative, who lived a floor above the victim’s house, allegedly offered her a spiked soft drink. The accused then allegedly raped her after the sedatives took effect.

In the HuffPost India article, Hirani's lawyer Anand Desai called the allegations "false, mischievous, scandalous, motivated and defamatory".

A case has been registered regarding the same with the Mico Layout police and further information is awaited.
