On Monday, police found 50 crude bombs from an abandoned railway housing complex in the area. Miscreants had hurled bombs and ransacked the Bhatpara Municipal Matri Sadan (maternity home) and this created panic among patients.

An elephant calf was rescued from an agricultural land in Mettupalayam and reunited with his mother.  The calf was found abandoned in an agricultural field.
