36 Rafale Jets  

Defence minister Rajnath Singh has arrived in India after receiving the first of 36 Rafale jets in France. Singh stated that India will get seven more Rafale jets by April-May 2020. He said that the France visit was a success and that he also held a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron for over 35 minutes.

 

Defence minister Rajnath Singh received the Guard of Honour by the French Republican Guards in Paris. This just hours after he had received the first of 36 Rafale jets in Merignac. 

Defence minister Rajnath Singh arrived at Merignac to receive the first Rafale combat aircraft. Singh on Monday left for Paris on a three-day visit during which he will receive the first of the 36 Rafale jets.
 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leaving for France today (August 22) on a bilateral visit during which further boosting of defence cooperation between the two countries will be discussed. Defence minister Rajnath Singh and Air chief marshal BS Dhanoa will travel to Paris next month to receive the first of 36 Rafale jets
 

Taking a dig at Rahul Gandhi, who had accused the Prime Minister Narendra Modi of corruption in the purchase of 36 Rafale jets from France, tweeted, “With Rahul Gandhi’s Midas Touch, no deal is too much!”

The Hindu report claimed that the Narendra Modi government's agreement for acquiring 36 Rafale jets gave major concessions to the Dassault Aviation, whereas this was Congress's defence minister AK Antony's doing
