2 Terrorists  

The bodies of the terrorists have been recovered from the encounter spot in Nipora area of Kulgam district, according to officials

Acting on a tip-off about the presence of terrorists in Banday Mohalla in Bonbazar area of Shopian, security forces launched a cordon and search operation. A top Pakistani JeM commander has been killed in the encounter in Kashmir
 

The bodies have been taken to district police lines for identification
 

According to sources, the encounter is taking place in the forest area of Khundru Khazean. Forces received information that three to four terrorists are in the forest area after which, a flush out operation was launched.

Pakistani-based terrorist groups are trying to push more operatives into the Indian side across the LoC. There has also been a constant effort to radicalise Kashmiri youth and convince them into joining terrorist ranks.

The exact number of terrorists hiding in the areas could not be established as the operation is still on. However, an army spokesperson confirmed that two militants have been killed in the encounter so far.

According to reports, as the jawans were conducting the search, militants fired upon them. A gun battle ensued when the security forces retaliated. 

According to the reports, one American M4 - a lighter variant sniper rifle with a telescoping stock and a INSAS, which is used by Indian forces, were recovered from their hideout 

The encounter broke out in the early hours of Friday in Babagund and Kralgund areas of Kupwara. According to the information, a cordon and search operation was started by joint troops of CRPF, Army and Jammu and Kashmir police about 1 am
