Indian cricket captain Mithali Raj was targeted by a troll on Twitter.
India celebrated its 72nd Independence Day on August 15, 2018. And while social media was abuzz with people wishing everybody well, a few trolls were on the prowl. Indian cricket captain Mithali Raj fell prey to one of them.
Mithali Raj, who is currently in the ongoing Women’s T20 Challenger Trophy 2018, had posted an Independence Day message on August 16 on Twitter. It read, “Wishing India, freedom from hunger, poverty, discrimination, sexism, abuse & greed. We have had 72 years to build ourselves in the manner we want to be defined. Are we close? Lives were lost so we could breathe free. Let’s honour those sacrifices. Jai Hind.”

She was, however, trolled for wishing everyone a day late.
Independence day over https://t.co/8l4daWaafd a celebrity this is not good.

But she came back with a brilliant reply.
I'm honored that you think I'm a celebrity. I'm merely an athlete on national duty since 1999. We have the challengers trophy going on and I don't have the phone with me on the field or off it on Match days. Hope that's a good enough reason for the delay? Happy Independence Day. https://t.co/nCJkkXEOyV

And twitteratti appreciated Mithali's answer.
Your reason is completely justified. But you need not justify yourself. We understand and respect your commitment towards Cricket. You can just ignore such comments and focus on game. But again these are just my views, you can ignore these as well 🙂. Happy Independence Day. 🙏
