Jakarta/Palembang: Gymnast Dipa Karmakar bowed out of the Asian Games finishing fifth in the women's balance beam event final in Jakarta. This ended India's campaign in gymnastics at the Asian Games.
China's Chen Yile won gold with a score of 14.600. North Korean Kim Jong Su won came second with 13.400 points and China's Zhang Jin scored 13.325 points for bronze.

Dipa's compatriots Aruna Budda Reddy and Pranati Nayak finished in seventh and eighth positions respectively in the women's individual vault event final.
India's male gymnasts also could not do well. None of the four gymnasts in the fray could make a mark in any individual competition. They also failed to qualify in the team event final.
Ashish Kumar, who is the only Indian gymnast to have won a medal at the Asian Games — bronze in 2010 in floor exercise — failed to deliver too.
