Jammu and Kashmir special police officer (SPO) Khushboo Jan was killed in her house in Vehil village in Shopian district
Srinagar: Terrorists on Saturday murdered a special police officer (SPO) in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district. The lady officer has been identified as Khushboo Jan.
Jan was attacked by terrorists in her house in Vehil village at around 2:40 pm. She was rushed to the hospital, but doctors failed to revive her.
Following the shocking incident, a massive manhunt was launched to apprehend the murders. Currently, the cops are looking for clues and analysing CCTV footages.

The Jammu Kashmir police gave out a statement after the attack. “Terrorists today fired on a policewoman Khushboo Jan at her village in Vehil area of Shopian district. She sustained critical injuries & was evacuated to hospital where she succumbed. We condemn this gruesome terror act & stand by her family at this critical juncture” read the statement.

Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah took to Twitter to condemn the attack.
"Lady special police officer (SPO) was shot & killed outside her home in South Kashmir earlier today. I condemn this act of terror & extend my condolences to her family & all her J&K police colleagues," he tweeted.
Jammu and Kashmir’s Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti also tweeted, "I strongly condemn this brutal act of terror. My condolences to the family. This vicious cycle of death and destruction seems to have no end."
Who are special officers?
SPOs are enrolled by the state police on fixed monthly remuneration to fight terrorism in the state. They don't get training and are unable to handle weapons. These officers form the constabulary in the state. The police often get information from these officers and also connect with the public on various occasions.
