New Delhi: A petition has been filed against Congress president Rahul Gandhi in a Bulandshahr court for his casteist remark ‘every thief turns out to be Modi’.
A person named Jagdip Modi, who runs a medical store has filed this petition. It was in reference to Rahul Gandhi calling ‘all Modis are thiefs’. He made the statement during his polling campaign in Kolar, Karnataka.
In the petition, four witnesses have been named and media reports are also submitted. In a recent rally, Congress president has made a controversial remark while saying, I have a question. Why all the thieves have Modi in their names whether be it Nirav Modi, Lalit Modi and Narendra Modi? We don't know how many more such Modis will come out".
On this, Prime Minister has said that he is used to such remarks as his backward background is attacked many times. The Prime Minister said, “I am used to such slamming. Now, they are blaming the entire community while defaming me. If you dare to defame a community, I will not tolerate it. Why label entire backward community thieves by calling me one?"
He went on by saying, "The Congress and its allies say that all Modis in the society are thieves. The Congress and its allies have not kept any shortcomings in abusing of my backward caste. This time they have crossed the limits and abused the entire backward society," the Prime Minister said.
Lok Sabha election second phase polling will be held on April 18 and will cover 95 constituencies, which include 11 state sand 1 union territory.
