With candidates like N Chandrababu Naidu, Pawan Kalyan and Nara Lokesh contesting, the results of this high-stakes battle are much anticipated in Andhra Pradesh which awaits the results of Assembly and Lok Sabha elections
Amaravathi: Minutes after counting began for the Andhra Pradesh Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, Jagan-led YSRCP took the lead in 145 assembly seats, while TDP is ahead in 29 assembly segments. The Pawan Kalyan-led Jana Sena Party is leading in one assembly constituency. Official Election Commission numbers show that YSRCP is leading in 18 Lok Sabha constituencies and the TDP has taken the lead in 7 constituencies in the state.
319 candidates are vying for 25 Lok Sabha constituencies, and 2395 candidates are in the fray for 175 Assembly seats. Elections were held in a single phase in Andhra Pradesh.
However, the exit polls have given mixed results as Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is looking to repeat a win in the state, though YSRCP's chances of a victory also seem likely. Another competitor in the state is the Jana Sena, which has allied with the Communist Party of India, Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).
Naidu’s TDP faces stiff competition as they face off against YSCRP as the latter seems to have gained a lot of ground in recent times.
