A youngster was caught by the cops while riding without a helmet. He was carrying a bloodied knife after having stabbed his friend.
Chikkaballapura: On Monday, Sandeep Shetty was caught by the traffic cops near MG Road, Chikkaballapura, Karnataka, while he was riding his sports bike without a helmet. He was fined Rs 100 and was asked to show his documents and driving license. To their amazement, Shetty pulled out a bloodied knife. He confessed that he had just stabbed his friend and was going to the police station to surrender.
The traffic cops immediately seized the knife and informed their seniors about the incident. On further inquiry, it was found that Shetty, a 26-year-old resident of Chikkaballapura, had loaned a sum of Rs 1 lakh to his friend and apparent business partner Devaraj for an investment in real estate.
The conflict over returning the money led to the attempted murder of Devaraj, a shopkeeper of cooking oil near Bazar Street in the town. The victim was shifted to a hospital in a critical condition by the neighbouring shopkeepers, who had gathered around after hearing the commotion. Shetty had escaped before they could catch him.
Shetty, who is originally from Udupi, stabbed Devaraj on his back and stomach when Devaraj shouted and asked him to forget about the money.
Shetty is now detained by the police and further investigation is underway.
