Tamil Nadu: Three college students drown in Nagapattinam sea

Nagapattinam: Three girls of a private college in Tamil Nadu drowned while playing in the sea off Poompuhar coast in the district on Wednesday, police said. The students were pulled in to the sea by waves while they were playing in an isolated stretch of the beach. The deceased victims are identified as Manavika Viveka, Sangeetha and Hasina Begum. A case has been registered in Nagapattinam police station, and further reports are awaited. Though several warning boards were present in the region forbidding entrance in the sea, the students still ignored the signs and decided to play.

Similarly, three engineering students on December 9 drowned on Chennai’s Marina beach. The Chennai police believe that three students had drowned in the sea after one of the student's corpse was washed ashore by the waves, and the other two were missing.
