The body of Mohammad Ali Ismail was donated by Mayur Bhamani, the nephew of the deceased and a resident of Greater Noida, to the Dadhichi Deh Dan Samiti, of which VHP's working president Alok Kumar is the chief patron. 'In our 21 years’ service in the field of body and organ donation, we have come across a body donation from a Muslim family for the first time,' Sudhir Gupta of the organisation told MyNation.
New Delhi: Persuaded by an RSS affiliate active in the field of social activity in the Delhi-NCR, a Muslim family donated the dead body of a kin to the Army Medical College. This is one of the rare occasions where a Muslim family donates the dead body of a relative, the organisation said.
The Dadhichi Deh Dan Samiti facilitated the donation of the body of Mohammad Ali Ismail after his death to the Army Medical College for use in anatomical studies by the students of medical science.
Working president of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad Alok Kumar is the chief patron of Dadhichi Deh Dan Samiti.
The body was donated by Mayur Bhamani, who was the nephew of the deceased and a resident of Greater Noida. “This is a rarity of its kind. In our 21 years’ service in the field of body and organ donation, we have come across a body donation from a Muslim family for the first time,” Sudhir Gupta of the organisation told MyNation.
VHP's Kumar welcomed the initiative and congratulated the donor’s family for leading the way. “This donation is going to inspire other Muslim families too. This family is a leader in breaking stereotypes and social prejudices.”
The organisation is engaged in raising consciousness to create social acceptance of body and organ donation among people.
“So far under our inspiration, over 10,000 people have pledged organ and body donation. The samiti has so far facilitated 885 eye donations and 232 body donations. These donations are apart from eight skin donations and two donations of bones,” Gupta said.
