Kolkata: Yet another case of flyover collapse rocks Kolkata. On Tuesday, a part of the Majerhat bridge collapsed following heavy rains.
The mishap happened on the Diamond Harbour Road at around 4:45 PM.
According to initial reports, the accident has killed at least one and injured 20. The bridge has been there for at least four decades.

Traffic restrictions have been imposed in and around the area after the accident.

DH Road towards Majherhat Bridge is closed to traffic from NR Avenue. Necessary diversions are on.
Meanwhile, the BJP has accused the state government of neglecting construction work. "State government should take complete responsibility of this collapse," said senior Bengal BJP leader Mukul Roy.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, on the other hand, has ordered a high-level probe.
Unfortunately, this is not the first time that such an accident happened. In 2016, an under-construction Vivekananda flyover in the Girish Park region collapsed killing 27 people and injuring more than 80.
