Bengaluru: A day after Karnataka's backward community department minister's staffer, Mohan, a typist, was caught with Rs 25.76 lakh cash near the state secretariat by the Vidhana Soudha security and police, the deputy commissioner of police (DCP) of central division D Devaraj has said that the case will now be transferred to Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB).

However, this move of transferring the case to ACB is seen as an attempt to sabotage the investigation and let the minister go scot-free without facing any probe.

"The ACB is like a toothless tiger. All its powers were ripped by Siddaramaiah in the past and now how can the agency investigate and take the process to a logical end. Cash seizure of above Rs 10 lakh should go to the I-T department or at least they should give it Central Crime Branch (CCB)," said Ashwathnarayana, Karnataka BJP spokesperson.
