Jammu: Almost two years after rifleman Ravinder Sambyal made the prime sacrifice for the nation, his widow Neeru Sambyal became an Army officer after 11 months of gruelling training at Chennai-based Officers Training Academy (OTA) along with 252 other cadets, showing the ultimate example of courage and inspiration for many.

Hailing from Bari Brahmana area of Jammu, 28-year-old Neeru Sambyal who passed out of the OTA after 11-month rigorous training, lost her husband rifleman Ravinder Sambyal in service.  

Like her husband, Ex-NCC cadet Sambyal sets a true example of grit and courage. Sambyal took the road less travelled by kindred of martyred soldiers.

A well-educated woman, Neeru has multiple degrees including BA, BEd, MA and MEd, and she trained herself for the OTA while taking care of her four-year-old daughter Sanidhya Rajput.

Sambyal cracked the Services Selection Board test in her first attempt.

The 2 JAK RIF, the parent battalion of her late husband, did everything possible to motivate and assist her to crack the exam.
