Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday gunned down three Lashkar terrorists in a brief encounter in Fatehkadal area of Srinagar.
In an encounter which lasted hardly for an hour, top Lashkar commander Mehraj Bangroo along with local terrorists Faeasal and Raes were believed to be gunned down by security forces. One Jammu and Kashmir policeman, who was critically injured in the encounter, attained martyrdom.
Speaking to MyNation, a senior officer of Jammu and Kashmir Police said, "Three terrorists have been gunned down in the ongoing encounter. One Jammu and Kashmir Police jawan also received fatal injuries".
The encounter broke out on Wednesday morning when terrorists fired upon a joint team of security forces when the door-to-door search operation was going on.
Meraj-ud-Din Bangroo, formerly associated with Muslim League, and the district commander of LeT is also believed to be among the killed. Follower of pro-Pakistan ideology, Bangroo of Fateh Kadal, is believed to be the brain behind the revival of terrorism in the city.
District administration has also ordered the closure of all educational institutions in the district. Internet services have also been snapped as a precautionary measure.
With this, the police also got major success as Mehraj Ud Din Bangroo was also among the terrorists involved in the killing of SHO Feroz Ahmed Dar.
