Prakash Raj often uses social media and other public platforms to criticise Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP, ever since journalist Gauri Lankesh was shot dead in Bengaluru in September 2017
Hyderabad: Actor Prakash Raj is the latest celebrity to join politics from the south after Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. On Tuesday, the actor announced his formal entry into politics and said that he would be contesting as an independent candidate in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
Just a day after his announcement to contest in the general elections, the actor met Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) working president KT Rama Rao in Hyderabad. He also posted a picture of their meeting, on Twitter.

According to reports, their meeting lasted for around 20 minutes, and the two are said to have discussed the actor's future plans in his political career. Nonetheless, Prakash is yet to announce from which constituency he will be contesting.
Prakash has been a voiced critic of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government. He often uses social media and other public platforms to criticise Modi and the BJP, ever since journalist Gauri Lankesh was shot dead in Bengaluru in September 2017. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the death of Gauri had announced that the killers had the actor's name too, on their hit list.
Meanwhile, Prakash had extended his support to several politicians including Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) and his plans for a 'Federal Front', which would include a consortium of regional parties.
