Villupuram: A bull was injured on Sunday after unidentified persons opened fire on a group of villagers. It was alleged that the villagers were illegally lifting sand from a lake at Kedar near Gingee in Tamil Nadu’s Villupuram district. The Villupuram Police have formed seven special teams to find the culprits. According to reports, Krishnamoorthy, 43, a bullock cart owner from Kedar along with four others was illegally lifting sand from Veeramur lake without permission from the revenue officials. While they were lifting sand illegally, they assumed a group of revenue officials and police authorities were in the vehicle and came to question them. The gang alighted from the car and opened fire on the villagers and the bullock cart. Soon after the group left, the villagers returned and were shocked to see that one of the bulls of Krishnamoorthy which was tied to a cart, had been shot at on its face.
