The task force will comprise hundreds of people in India to prevent people from misusing the platform, Facebook said
New Delhi: In the run-up to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, social networking giant Facebook has said that they would be setting up a special task force to keep a check on hate speech.
The task force will comprise hundreds of people in India to prevent people from misusing the platform, Facebook said. "With the 2019 elections coming, we are pulling together a group of specialists to work together with political parties," Richard Allan, Facebook's Vice President for Global Policy Solutions, was quoted as saying by news agency IANS.
Facebook is also aiming to bring more transparency for political ads on the site in India. As per the new ad platform, users will be able to see who has paid for a particular advertisement.
Regarding the task force for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Alan said, "The task force for India will have security specialists and content specialists, among others, who will try to understand all the possible forms of election-related abuse in India".
