The India Meteorological Department predicts rain in Delhi till Thursday, which is causing major waterlogging and traffic congestion all over the city
New Delhi: The city witnessed heavy rainfall on Tuesday morning, resulting in waterlogging in several parts of Delhi and Gurgaon.
Rush hour traffic was affected due to waterlogging and the Delhi Traffic Police have given a list of areas to avoid. According to the police, areas like RTR flyover, RTR T point to Airport, Mahipalpur Market (both carriageways), Vasant Valley School, Andheria Mor to Vasant Kunj, Punjabi Bagh flyover, Zakhira flyover etc., have witnessed severe waterlogging causing traffic jam.
A lot of vehicles are also breaking down on the roads owing to the rising levels of water, causing an increase in traffic. A Delhi Traffic Police advisory issued at 9 am on Tuesday says, "Obstruction in traffic in the carriageway from Dwarka towards Delhi Cantt. due to the breakdown of a car. Kindly avoid the stretch if possible”.
"We had already sent a list of places which can have a major waterlogging issue in May. But no action has been taken by the concerned authorities. Now the public has to face the result of carelessness," a senior police official said.
Since Monday, Delhi has received the highest rainfall in a day in August – this is a record-breaking high in the last three years.

RTR Flyover (both carriageways), Punjabi Bagh flyover (both carriageways), Delhi Cantt- Airport road, DND Flyover (Noida to Ashram), Vikas Marg (Laxmi Nagar to ITO).
