Chilling tale of inhumanity: Jind man gets wife gang-raped by friends

Jind: A story of inhumanity and antethesis of love has surfaced from Jind of Haryana. A man, after marriage, took his wife to Hissar from where they moved to a place in Himachal Pradesh, and got her gang-raped by his friends.

The survivor escaped from her captors and reached a women's police station to lodge a complaint and seek help. The police have lodged an FIR, making a case of rape, abduction and criminal conspiracy against nine suspects. Police are investigating the case further.

DSP Pushpa Khatri says that the victim had got married to the chief suspect three months ago. The police are building the case based on the sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) that deal with rape, abduction and criminal conspiracy. The case, the police say, is complicated because the woman had sought police protection for the couple against attacks by their kin and communities who were against this marriage.
