Five days after Anissia Batra, who was a flight attendant with Lufthansa Airlines, committed suicide by jumping from the terrace from her south Delhi home, My Nation got access to her last conversation with a friend.

Batra wrote around 4:12 pm on 13th July, “I am going to kill myself today bcoz Mayank (her husband) has driven me to it. He finally let me out but I can't repair what he has done.”

The air hostess’s conversation also revealed that Mayank locked her in a room while he guarded the door. “He is sitting outside guarding my room,” her message read.

In her conversation, Anissia also asked her friend to call the police as she had a verbal altercation with Mayank.

Police sources revealed that Mayank saw a message of Annisia and her mother Nilum Batra, where the former allegedly discussed about him and it triggered the argument. “He told us that after the verbal altercation, she locked her inside the room. She remained inside the room for almost three hours. Mayank had also snatched her phone but later handed it over back,” said a police official.

According to a statement given by Nilum Batra, Mayank started beating Anissia just after a week of their marriage. She also told the police that he thrashed her during their honeymoon.

In June 2017, Anissia's father, who is a retired Army officer, filed a complaint accusing Mayank of domestic violence. He said that if anything were to happen to his daughter, Mayank and his family would be responsible.
