An Indian student from Telangana was shot dead at a restaurant at J's Fish and Chicken Market in the United States. Victim is identified as Sharath Koppu, who studied at the University of Missouri, in Kansas City on Friday (6 July).

Speaking to MyNation, Shivudu, uncle of Sharath, said that legal procedures are being done and the body will arrive in Telangana in five days. He said that the parents of Sharath are in shock. "It is very difficult to accept what has happened," said the uncle. 

25-year-old Sharat Koppu was a part-time employee at the restaurant and had moved to the United States in January.

The video of gunmen rushing into the restaurant shooting at Sharath has been captured by the CCTV, which has been released by the Kansas City police.

According to reports, around 7 PM, gunmen barged into the restaurant and every one ducked behind the counter. As confusion prevailed, Sharath is said to have ran in the opposite direction. The gunmen fired at him and in a minute, he was lying in a pool of blood.

The police rushed to the spot and took Sharath to the nearby hospital, but was declared brought dead.

The Kansas City Police released the video and announced an award of $10,000 for any information on the accused seen in the CCTV video.

Sharath hails from Warangal district in Telangana state of India. After completing his engineering, he was working as a software engineer in a company in Hyderabad. He had enrolled in the University of Missouri and moved to the US, early this year.

Telangana minister KT Rama Rao has been asked to help in getting Sharath's body back to Telangana.
