A tragic accident changed Pranjal Patil’s life entirely, but she refused to give up on her dreams. In the year 2017, she cleared the UPSC exams with an impressive 124th rank, becoming an inspiration for lakhs of aspirants.
Pranjal Patil grew up in Ullas Nagar in Maharashtra. Since childhood, she was bright in academics. When she was in grade 6, a tragic accident took place in school. While studying, a classmate’s pencil accidentally struck her eye, resulting in the loss of her eyesight. Despite the drastic change in her life, Pranjal refused to succumb to despair and went on to become an IAS officer.
Perseverance
Pranjal continued her further education with the help of Braille. She was fortunate enough to receive a software that read out books to her. An unfortunate accident had entirely changed her life, but she showed remarkable courage and determination. Despite everything, she aspired to achieve great things in life. She faced discrimination due to her visual impairment, but she never lost hopes of accomplishing her dreams.
Appearing for the UPSC exams
Pranjal’s dedication to studies led her to appear for several competitive examinations. However, her ultimate goal remained achieving success in UPSC. She dedicated herself to UPSC preparation with the support of her family. In the year 2016, Pranjal successfully cleared the exams with 733rd rank. However, she was dissatisfied with performance and wanted to aim for a better rank. Pranjal studied day and night with an unwavering resolve of braving through the challenges and becoming an inspiration for others.
Becoming an inspiration
Pranjal appeared for the exams in 2017 and this time she achieved an impressive rank of 124th. Satisfied with her performance, she accepted her new role as an IAS officer. She was then appointed to Ernakulam, Kerala. Initially, she served as an assistant collector. Today. Pranjal serves as the Sub Collector in Thiruvananthapuram. Her story of perseverance serves as an inspiration for all those who stop pursuing their dreams due to impediments.
