Ankit Jain, hailing from Sagar, faced significant challenges after the demise of his father, Devendra Kumar Jain, a grain merchant. To support his education and help his family, he worked as a tutor at a coaching centre while diligently preparing for competitive exams. After much hard work and perseverance, he achieved his goal of becoming an Excise Sub-Inspector.

The timing of his passing-out parade, which coincided with the Diwali festival, made the occasion even more special for his family. In his crisp uniform, Ankit proudly fulfilled his mother’s dream, presenting himself to her as a symbol of their shared aspirations and hard-fought journey.

Making the family proud

Ankit's entire family gathered to witness his passing-out parade, a moment that would forever be etched in their memories. As Ankit proudly presented his cap to his mother and touched her feet, tears of joy filled her eyes. Overwhelmed with emotion, she embraced her son, showering him with blessings for his future. This Diwali transformed into a cherished memory for both of them, symbolizing their journey together and the culmination of Ankit’s hard work.

MPPSC journey

Ankit Jain’s journey was fraught with challenges. He took the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) exam in 2019, but the results were delayed due to the OBC reservation controversy. Compounding his struggles, Ankit’s father tragically passed away during the second wave of COVID-19, worsening the family's financial situation. With the burden of responsibility now on his shoulders, Ankit chose not to succumb to despair. Instead, he took the initiative to teach at a coaching centre to support his family while pursuing his dreams.

Achieving dreams

Ankit taught at a coaching centre in Indore for three years, which not only provided him with much-needed financial support but also enabled him to continue his studies. He dedicated himself to preparing for the MPPSC exam, studying six hours a day with unwavering persistence. After a wait of five years, his hard work finally bore fruit in 2024 when he received his joining letter for the position of Excise Sub-Inspector.

First posting in Jabalpur

Ankit completed his training at the Jawaharlal Nehru Police Academy in Sagar, where 58 Excise Sub-Inspectors and three District Excise Officers also underwent their training. The programme culminated in a memorable passing-out parade. Following his training, Ankit's first posting was in Jabalpur, marking the beginning of his career in law enforcement.

The five-year wait was far from easy for Ankit, but he remained steadfast in his patience. He believes that preparing for the MPPSC exam was not only a test of knowledge but also a true measure of patience and resilience. He is determined to apply the lessons he learned during his training in his role. He recognizes that an officer's primary duty is to serve the public and intends to prioritize this commitment above all else.
