The UPSC Civil Services Examination (UPSC CSE) is regarded as one of India's most challenging and prestigious exams, demanding immense hard work and determination. One such inspiring story is that of Safin Hasan, hailing from a small village in Gujarat. Despite facing numerous struggles and difficult circumstances, he achieved his dream of becoming an IPS officer at a young age.

Background

Born in July 1995, Safin Hasan grew up in a family facing significant financial difficulties. His parents worked in a diamond unit, but in 2000, they both lost their jobs. His mother took up work as a cook in people's homes, while his father started carrying bricks for a living. To make ends meet, they worked hard, striving to manage the household expenses.

Safin's inspiration

Safin's dream was sparked when a collector visited his school. Inspired by the collector’s presence, Safin decided that he too wanted to earn such respect. Despite facing numerous financial challenges in his education, he was fortunate that his school waived his fees for class 11 and 12. Later, his relatives came forward to help cover his engineering college fees, enabling him to continue his studies.

UPSC Exam Day

In 2017, while on his way to take the UPSC exam, Safin was involved in a severe road accident. He suffered multiple fractures that required immediate surgery. Despite his injuries, Safin made the remarkable decision to go directly to the examination centre from the hospital. He took the exam in his injured state and then proceeded with the necessary surgery afterwards, showing incredible determination and resilience.

570th rank and the journey to becoming an IPS

Safin's relentless hard work bore fruit when he secured an All India Rank (AIR) of 570 in the 2017 UPSC exam. At just 22 years old, he made history by becoming the country's youngest IPS officer. His achievement not only brought immense pride to his family but also inspired lakhs of young people across the nation.

Achieving the dream

Safin Hasan's story is a testament to the power of big dreams and unwavering determination. No obstacle, be it poverty, injury, or struggle, could stop him from achieving his goals. Today, Safin is not only a successful IPS officer but also a source of inspiration for many aspirants facing their own challenges.
