Surabhi Gautam, hailing from the small village of Amdara in Satna district, Madhya Pradesh, has an inspiring and remarkable journey. As a student of a Hindi-medium school, Surabhi initially lacked fluency in English and did not have access to coaching or formal guidance. Despite these challenges, her determination and hard work earned her a job at Ratan Tata's company, where she impressed everyone with her skills, showing that success isn't limited by language or resources.

Background

Surabhi Gautam's parents played a crucial role in shaping her journey; her father was a lawyer, and her mother, a government school teacher. Despite coming from a modest background and having limited resources, Surabhi excelled academically, scoring over 90% in both class 10 and 12. In her UPSC journey, she received immense support from her parents.

Engineering studies

After high school, Surabhi cleared the State Engineering Entrance Exam and secured admission to an engineering college in Bhopal. There, she chose to pursue Electronics and Communication Engineering, where her hard work and dedication paid off. Surabhi not only excelled academically but also topped her entire university, earning a prestigious gold medal for her outstanding performance. Her achievement was a testament to her unwavering commitment and exceptional abilities.

Perseverance

Despite having limited proficiency in English, Surabhi never allowed it to be a barrier to her success. She focused on honing her skills, working tirelessly to prove her worth. Her hard work and dedication paid off when she secured a job at Ratan Tata's company, where her merit shone through. This experience was a turning point in her life, not only providing invaluable professional exposure but also significantly boosting her confidence.

UPSC preparation 

While living in her village, she began preparing for the UPSC exam without the support of coaching. Relying solely on self-belief, determination, and hard work, she achieved incredible success. In 2016, Surabhi cleared the prestigious UPSC CSE exam. Remarkably, before cracking the UPSC exam, she had also achieved top ranks in multiple competitive exams like BAARC, GAIL, ISRO, SAIL, SSC CGL and more.
