Laveena Jain, a resident of Meerut, refused to give up despite battling cancer and facing severe financial challenges. Determined to secure her children's future, she started a small pickle business with just Rs 1500. Today, her humble venture has blossomed into a thriving business with an annual turnover of Rs 39 lakh. Laveena's journey of overcoming adversity to build a successful business is a true inspiration to many.

Background

Both Laveena and her husband are cancer survivors. They faced immense financial difficulties after their diagnosis. At one point, some even suggested they sell their home. However, Laveena was resolute, not only in her desire to secure a future for her children, but also in proving her strength and resilience.

Launching the business

In 2011, Laveena began making pickles, jams, and squashes from her home, starting with just Rs 1500. Her first products were lemon squash and thandai. In the beginning, her family played a crucial role, helping with packing, labelling, and marketing the products.

Cancer recovery

After recovering from cancer, Laveena joined a 100-day food preservation training programme organised by the Uttar Pradesh government. Despite undergoing chemotherapy, she continued her training, believing it could offer her a fresh direction in life. With her family's support, she crafted lemon squash and thandai, which gradually gained popularity. However, her biggest challenge in the early days was figuring out how to sell the products.

Growing the business

Laveena leveraged kitty parties, which were popular among women at the time, to sell her products. She set up small stalls at these gatherings, introducing her pickles, jams, and squashes to a broader audience. The high quality of her products quickly won over customers. Her first major breakthrough came when a woman placed an order for 2 kg of mango pickle, a milestone that marked her growing success. Her dedication paid off, and soon word of her products began to spread across Meerut.

'Tripti Foods'

What started as a small venture has now grown into Tripti Foods. Laveena now produces over 70 different items, including pickles, jams, chutneys, squashes, and a variety of traditional food products. What sets her apart is her commitment to using all-natural ingredients, free from unnecessary preservatives and chemicals, ensuring the highest quality in every product.
