Despite these challenges, she remained committed towards her studies. She completed her school exams while living with her in-laws. Remarkably, her dedication to studies resulted in cracking NEET UG exam and becoming an MBBS doctor. Let’s read about her inspiring journey.
Meet Dr Rupa Yadav
Rupa Yadav, a resident of Kariri village of Rajasthan, had a dream of becoming a doctor since childhood. However, the local environment was not supportive of educating girls. Following the old traditions, Rupa’s uncle got her married at the tender age of 8. However, she did not move to the in-law’s home immediately.
An achiever
When Rupa scored 86 percent in her class 10 exams while living with her parents, she caused a stir in the village as no boy had ever achieved such a remarkable score as her in the area. She even received an award for her achievements. Rupa’s teacher advised her parents to continue her education. However, the time came when Rupa finally had to move to her in-laws’ house.
Although her father did not want her to go yet, Rupa’s brother-in-law promised that her education would not be interrupted, and he kept his word. When she completed class 12 with high marks, her teachers encouraged her to pursue a career in medicine.
NEET preparation
With the support of her in-laws, Rupa began preparing for the NEET exam. She did her preparation while pursuing her BSc and a coaching centre offered her free classes. In her first attempt, she ranked 22,000. Recognizing her potential, her family sent her to Kota for further coaching despite their financial struggles. Rupa did not disappoint her family and she passed NEET UG exam in 2017 and began pursuing MBBS at Sardar Patel Medical College in Bikaner.
Achieving dreams
Just before her pre-final exams, Rupa faced another significant challenge due to her pregnancy and had to choose between her career and her child. She determined to balance both with the support of her family. She gave birth to a daughter and continued preparing for exams. Her mother and sister cared for her newborn baby as she took her exams and passed with good marks. Throughout her journey, she never gave up and emerged as an extraordinary achiever.
