He never let his physical shortcomings block his way to achieve greatness. Despite all the struggles, he studied hard and now he teaches hundreds of children at no cost.
Electrocution and grief
As a playful kid, Babu Bhai Parmar did the mistake of touching bare wires with his hands, and as a result his hands were severely damaged and had to be amputated. His father worked hard in the fields to make a living. Parmar felt disappointed with his fate and grieved about never being able to be like other people.
His family was in financial debt and he wanted to find a way out of this situation and decided that education would be his best mate. Not being able to write with his hands, Parmar found another way; he held a pencil in his mouth, tried to write and never looked back.
It took him an immense amount of patience to become good at this but at this point nothing was impossible for him.
Teacher training course
Babu Bhai’s determination and commitment was evident and visible to everyone. Looking at his enthusiasm for studies, Parmar’s father sent him to the school for special children in the city. After completing his high school studies, Parmar went on to pursue a teacher training course for two years.
In the year 2003, Parmar got married and the need to earn more money was felt. He dreamed of opening a coaching class, but there were financial constraints. One day, during his regular visits to the temple, he met a social worker Amrish Ojha.
Learning about Parmar’s condition, Ojha offered him a job at a school named Chayado in Ahmedabad. His salary was a small sum of Rs 2000. Due to some reasons, the school building was demolished in the year 2010, and Babu Bhai was left unemployed.
Coaching classes for poor children
Soon after that, Babu Bhai Parmar had the opportunity of meeting another social worker Sweety Bhalla. Sweety was looking for a teacher who could teach poor children. She found out about Parmar through Lions club. She contacted him and it is needless to say that Parmar accepted this opportunity.
It had been his long-cherished dream to teach and guide poor children and it was finally coming true. Looking at Babu Bhai’s exceptional skills of writing from his mouth, the children used to be in awe of him. Babu Bhai Parmar still wishes to open his own coaching classes and is trying collect funds for the same.
