During the lockdown, Sonal Gupta, a resident of Kota, established an NGO to provide food and shelter to street animals. She has garnered support from numerous animal lovers who actively contribute to and assist her NGO.
Kota: Sonal Gupta’s journey of rescuing helpless animals started when she was a young child. Today, she has rescued more than 6000 animals and continues to provide her care to the street animals.
Sonal Gupta’s campaign
Sonal Gupta shares a dog rescue story from her childhood. Many years ago, it was raining heavily outside, and Sonal saw a puppy getting drenched in rain unable to find a shelter. She noticed that the puppy had a small injury in his legs which was preventing him from walking properly. She took it under her care, fed it and wrapped its body with warm towel. The puppy’s health did not improve which prompted her to take it to a vet. After the proper treatment, the puppy regained its health and became jumpy again.
The doctors told Sonal that the puppy had some medical issues due to which one its hind legs were short. She adopted it named it Happy. She adds that Happy faces persistent health issues but despite that, she ensures proper care for her furry friend.
Rescuing 6000 animals
Sonal pursued a diploma in Entrepreneurship from IIM Udaipur. Instead of finding a job, she established her own IT company. She dedicates all her earnings to the welfare of animals. So far, she has rescued over 6000 animals. During the lockdown, the strays could not be fed properly.
The locals approached Sonal, prompting her to treat sick animals with essential care. When she saw an increase in the number of phone calls for help, she decided to establish an NGO to address animal welfare concerns.
