Rajat's rendition of ‘Dil Ka Dariya Beh Hi Gaya’ was greeted with much admiration and appreciation.

Who is Rajat Rathor?

Rajat Rathore is a resident of Ambah, Morena, Madhya Pradesh. His father moved to Delhi when he was just 2 years old. Tragically, his father passed away when he was in grade 11. In 2017, at the age of 19, Rajat took over his father's job. He completed his schooling in Dayalpur, Delhi, and graduated from North Campus Delhi University.

A love for music

Rajat's love for music has been a lifelong passion. Even during his school years, he regularly performed on stage at school events. For a year, Rajat received professional training in classical music. After completing his schooling, he worked as a guitar teacher in a school, imparting musical knowledge to young children. He also taught singing to kids at his academy. Although he later joined the police service and left his teaching job, his passion for music continued to flourish.

Indian Idol’s Top 27 Contestants

Rajat Rathor has made it to the Indian Idol’s top 27 contestants. He expressed his deep connection to Kumar Sanu's songs and mentioned that his mother is also a fan of Kumar Sanu. He cherished the moment when Kumar Sanu himself embraced him on the Indian Idol stage, making it a memorable experience.

Rajat mentioned that he initially put music on hold when he joined his job. However, in 2019, he resumed sharing his music videos on social media. In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the film star, Akshay Kumar shared Rajat's video of ‘Teri Mitti’ on his social media account. Since then, Rajat has been consistently posting his song videos on social media and has gained immense popularity. 

Rajat emphasizes that music is his first love, and at this point, he has no intention of getting married. When questioned about the possibility of leaving his police job for a significant offer from Bollywood, he shared that while he's committed to his police job, music remains his foremost passion.

A multitalented artist

Rajat is a versatile artist who not only sings but also showcases his talent in composing music and writing song lyrics. His debut song, ‘Tera Mera Saath,’ was released just last month, and it has already gained recognition. Rajat has a following of 127,000 on Instagram, where he shares his musical journey.

Following the passion

During his leisure time while on duty at the police headquarters, Rajat practices singing in the parking lot. He can be found humming tunes while playing the guitar alongside his sister. Rajat holds a strong liking for singers KK and Arijit Singh, whose music deeply resonates with him.
