Iqra Warsi comes from a small district in Indira Nagar. She has received gold medals for her excellent performance in her studies and has received the Best Student Award. Despite all the financial constraints, she continues to study and wishes to become a professor of Urdu language.
Who is Iqra?
Iqra Rizwan Warsi has received three gold medals for her academic achievements. She is a resident of Indira Nagar, Lucknow. She lives with her family in a small house. She has three sisters and a brother; all of them are school students.
Iqra’s father, Rizwan used to work as a spray painter before he lost his job during Covid. Due to the financial constraints, the children struggled with buying their school books. Iqra’s mother, Tarannum decided to work and earned a small income to support her family; she made masks at home and her husband helped with selling them at the city intersection.
A decent income could not be earned with the sale to support a family of seven. Rizwan took up a menial job and started selling earphones in front of schools. He could earn 5 to 6 thousand in a month, but managing all the household expenses was still difficult.
Rizwan searched for a part time job for his son, from where the family’s income increased by four thousand rupees.
Travelling 32 km for work
After a point of time, Rizwan could not earn enough from the sales. On a fellow’s suggestion, he started selling the items in front of hospitals of Gomti Nagar. One day, he travelled 32 km to PGI, and earned a better sum by selling earphones and data cables. Now, he travels this distance daily to earn a living.
Winning gold medals
Iqra shares that she was honoured by Governor Anandiben Patel in the convocation ceremony of Lucknow University for securing the highest marks and percentage. A year before, she received the Best Student Award. Iqra currently studies Urdu and wishes to become a professor in the same subjects.
