After five failed attempts, Paramita Malakar, a resident of West Bengal, finally achieved success in UPSC. Let’s learn more about her success strategy.
Paramita Malakar’s UPSC success story is a testament to the spirit of perseverance. She secured 812th rank in UPSC 2023 exam and what makes her achievement remarkable is her unwavering passion to reach her goals. In today’s highly competitive environment, balancing job responsibilities while preparing for exams is incredibly challenging. During her journey, Paramita switched her jobs multiple times, and at last achieved success and satisfaction on her sixth UPSC attempt.
Education
After completing her BSc (Hons) in Physics in 2012, she started working in a BPO to support her family. A few months later, she switched jobs and joined TCS. She even worked for State Bank of India for a while. In the year 2020, she finally secured a government job, becoming as Sub Divisional Information and Cultural Officer (SDICO).
High-paying jobs
Paramita began her UPSC preparation while working at TCS in 2018. Balancing 12-hour corporate job left her with limited time to study. After failing in her first attempt, she was deeply disappointed. During the same time, she also appeared for several other competitive exams such as WBPSC, LIC, Railways, and Bank PO. This helped her rebuild her self-confidence.
UPSC success
Through a government exam, Paramita secured a job as SDICO in 2022. Her life took a significant turn when she reached the UPSC 2023 interview stage and eventually succeeded in making it to the final list.
Study strategy
She mentions that she found solving previous years’ question papers extremely beneficial. After cracking the UPSC Prelims in 2022, she enrolled in a coaching institute for better preparation. Appearing for a total of 28 mock tests proved to be a game changer for her.
