North Dinajpur: A 14-year-old girl was shot in her leg in Bengal, allegedly by the TMC cadres, on International Women's Day. Claiming that the BJP is an emerging power in Bengal, the party members alleged that the victim's father is a BJP booth president and that the minor has been targeted to intimidate them.

The incident is reported from North Dinajpur, just kilometres away from the strategically sensitive Indias' chicken neck, claims Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh. He claimed that the incident taking place on International Women's Day highlights the irony of it.

Speaking to media, her father alleged that there were four attackers. He has taken names of three. While MyNation cannot independently verifies the claims, the two names revealed are Debashish and Bishtu Singh. The third name is inaudible due to poor audio.

In a video, that is in possession of MyNation, the victim, who is identified as a 14-year-old minor, is seen laying on a hospital bed. The video establishes the fact that her right leg is bandaged.

"

The Bengal BJP, from its official Twitter handle, has claimed that the perpetrators are 'political terrorists'. Union minister Babul Supriyo tweeted, "Humanity died, resurrected itself and died again when shots were fired at (the) teenage daughter of one of BJP's booth presidents in Didi's Bengal on women's day. What are they trying to accomplish by harming an innocent 14-year-old? Are they any less of a terrorist? (SIC)"

Speaking to MyNation, Dilip Ghosh said, "Whoever did it, they are protected by the Trinamool Congress (TMC)." TMC has completely rubbished these allegations.

This is not the first time BJP cadres are under fire in Bengal. BJP worker Trilochan Mahato's body was found hanging from a tree in West Bengal's Purulia district last year. A note next to the dead body was recovered that time. When roughly translated, the message said, "This is for doing BJP politics from the age of 18. I've been trying to kill you since the vote. But I failed. Today, you are dead." Another BJP worker Dulal Kumar was also found mysteriously hanging from the same district. But this is probably for the first time, family members, even minors are targeted in such a violent manner, allegedly for their political affiliation in Bengal.
