If you have recently changed your residence and wish to change the address details on your Voter ID card, then you can do so by following a few simple steps.
Election Commission of India offers online service for updating the address on your Voter ID card. Visit the official website and select Form 8. You can easily update your address by completing and submitting Form 8 on the website. Furthermore, you can also visit your area’s Election Office to get it done smoothly.
Here is a step-by-step guide for you:
1. Visit the website of EC at https://voters.eci.gov.in/ and log in.
2. On the homepage, go to the 'Form' section where you’ll find the option ‘Shifting of residence/correction of entries in existing electoral roll/replacement of EPIC/marking of PWD.’
3. Click on Form 8. A new page will appear where you’ll need to enter the required details.
4. Select the ‘Self’ option and proceed to click on ‘Submit.’
5. Choose the option ‘Change of Residence’ option. Then select either ‘Within the Assembly Constituency’ or ‘Outside the Assembly Constituency.’ Then click on ‘OK.’
6. Enter your state, district, and Assembly Constituency. Then click on ‘Next.’
7. Enter your Aadhaar number, email, and mobile number.
8. Enter your new address details and upload the required documents.
9. After uploading the documents, click on ‘Next.’
10. Complete the declaration. Enter the captcha code and then click on ‘Submit.’
After completing these steps, ECI will receive your application. If successful, your Voter ID card will be updated and delivered to your address.
You will need to submit any of the following documents
• Water, electricity, or gas bill
• Aadhaar card
• Bank or post office passbook
• Indian passport
• Land ownership records
• Registered rent lease deed (for tenants)
• Registered sale deed (for landlords)
To track the status of your Voter ID card, follow these steps
• Visit https://voters.eci.gov.in/home/track.
• Go to the ‘Track Application section.
• Enter the reference number provided during the application process. Click on ‘Submit.’
• Then, you will be able to view the current status of your application.
