Varanasi is set to sparkle with the light of lakhs of lamps this Dev Deepawali. The festival of lights will be celebrated with great pomp and show on November 15. The ghats of Varanasi will be illuminated with lamps, creating a mesmerizing spectacle. Tourists from all over the world are expected to visit Varanasi to witness this grand celebration.

The Yogi government has prepared 12 lakh diyas for this year's Dev Deepawali celebrations. These lamps will adorn the ghats and banks of the Ganges River. Notably, a lot of these lamps are made from cow dung. The government has already declared Dev Deepawali a local holiday. As part of the festivities, there will also be a laser show and a display of green fireworks.

Lamps Made from Cow Dung

Over 84 ghats, banks, and ponds in Varanasi will be decorated with over 12 lakh diyas this year. According to Rajendra Kumar Rawat, Deputy Director of the Tourism Department, 2.5 to 3 lakh of these lamps are made from cow dung. Lamps will also adorn the Ganges River, illuminating the entire waterway. The ghats will be cleaned and decorated with electric lights.

Green Fireworks

The Deputy Director of Tourism said that a laser show will depict the glory of the Ganges River and Lord Shiva. There will also be a display of eco-friendly, soundless fireworks over the Ganges. Tourists from all over the world are expected to visit Varanasi for the Dev Deepawali celebrations. Hotels, guest houses, and boats are expected to be fully booked.
