New Delhi: In an early morning encounter, two terrorists were killed in a gun fight with security forces in Awneera area of Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to sources, the two were affiliated with Ansar Gazwatul Hind (AGH) militant outfit, which is inspired by ideology of Islamic State (IS). Recently forces also killed AGH chief Zakir Musa.
The slain terrorists have been identified as Sayar Ahmad Bhat, son of Sanauallah of Manchowa Kulgam, and Shakir Ahmad Wagay of Awneera Shopian in Jammu and Kashmir.
Officials said that they had specific information about terrorists hiding in the area following which a cordon and search operation was launched during the early hours.
He said the search operation turned into an encounter after terrorists opened fire towards security forces.
Arms and ammunition were recovered from the scene of the encounter. Forces have killed over 100 terrorists in Kashmir valley this year.
