In an e-Reverse Auction run by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam, the state-owned electricity producer SJVN Ltd. announced on Sunday that its subsidiary, SJVN Green Energy, prevailed over a 200 MW solar project. It is believed that the project will result in a 5,74,868-ton decrease in carbon emissions upon commissioning.

This project is a component of the larger 1,125 MW Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited (GSECL) Solar Park Project, which is situated near Khavda, Gujarat.On February 2, 2024, Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) held a bidding process. SGEL won the entire 200 MW at a competitive tariff of ₹2.66 per unit.

According to an organizations statement, SJVN Green Energy would develop this project on a build-own-and-operate basis at a preliminary development cost of Rs 1,100 crore. The project's goal is to produce roughly 504 million units (MUs) of electricity in its first year and 11,732 MUs in total over the course of 25 years. 

SJVN Chairman and Managing Director Geeta Kapur stated that, the project is anticipated to produce roughly 504 million units of energy in its first year of operation, with a total of 11,732 million units expected during a 25-year period.

The project will be put into service in 18 months from the date of the power purchase agreement, which would be signed by GUVNL and SGEL and last for 25 years, according to the Request for Selection (RfS).

This development represents a major step toward sustainable energy solutions and is consistent with the government's commitment to obtain 50% of the nation's energy from non-fossil fuel-based resources by 2030.
