People are always looking for new and improved options for investing to grow their money. Some invest in real estate, while some invest in mutual funds (MFs). But there has been an age-old question of which one is better. Is it real estate? Or is it mutual funds? Different people give different answers but the debate is still going.

This debate was recently sparked on the internet by an entrepreneur's post on X (formerly Twitter) about his investment in a piece of land and in MFs. Sharing his experience with both, he wrote, "Had invested in a plot 15 years or so back and in three years it grew 10x and in some emotional moment sold it. Later on invested that sun in MFs which in 12 years have grown around 2.5 times. Came to know the plot today is 100x."

The post currently has 262.7K views and hundreds of comments expressing their thoughts on the matter. One user wrote, "It's alright I guess, the pursuit of profitability never truly ends. A close friend with over a million-dollar portfolio once told me that he couldn't have achieved it if he'd been consumed by regret for booking profit early. He told me to view it as a blessing as long as it's in the green," sharing his friend's experience with the MFs.

Another user wrote, "Nothing can beat Property in terms of returns. Anyday. It was, it is and it will be the best option for investment."

While someone in the comment defended Mutual funds and wrote, "Woah! The traditionalists will celebrate your post (although what you mentioned is case to case and location dependent). Financial assets still lag Real investments in India because of lack of education and understanding of the first and the second generations."
