The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Friday allowed the use of special trains for movement of migrant workers, pilgrims, tourists, students and other people stranded at different places across the country amid lockdown due to COVID-19.
Bengaluru: Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Rajya Sabha MP took to Twitter to appreciate the Centre's decision to arrange special trains for migrant workers in India. He also lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the special initiative.

On Friday, the ministry of home affairs (MHA) allowed the use of special trains for movement of migrant workers, pilgrims, tourists, students and other people stranded at different places across the country amid lockdown due to coronavirus.
These trains will be operated by the Indian Railways under the ministry of railways and it will designate nodal officer(s) for coordinating with states and Union Territories (UTs) for their movement.
Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, the MHA spokesperson said, "Movement of migrant workers, pilgrims, tourists, students & other persons, stranded at different places, is also allowed by #SpecialTrains to be operated by Ministry of Railways. MoR to designate nodal officer(s) for coordinating with States/ UTs for their movement."
