India’s prestigious institutions have secured spots in the top 150 institutes in QS World Ranking 2025. IIT Bombay has shown improvement in its ranking, climbing from 149th in 2023 to 118th this year. On the other hand, IIT Delhi has secured the 150th position. Moreover, IISc is ranked 211th, followed by IIT Kharagpur at 222nd. IIT Madras is at 227th spot and IIT Kanpur at 263rd.

World Rankings

In the QS World Ranking, universities are ranked and evaluated based on certain criteria. Some of the factors include academic reputation, international faculty ratio, international research network, citations per faculty, faculty-student ratio, international student ratio, and employment outcomes. Each of these factors are assigned a weightage ranging from 5 to 30 percent. 

In last year rankings, IISc Bangalore was ranked 225th, IIT Kharagpur 271st, IIT Kanpur 278th, and IIT Madras 285th.
