Bhubaneswar: A differently-abled minor girl was reportedly raped in Bhubaneswar, Odisha , by her distant grandfather. The incident came to light on Wednesday (August 21) after the minors, and family members lodged a complaint at the local police station.

The police registered a case and started the investigation into the incident. A manhunt has been launched to arrest the accused who is presently absconding after committing the crime.

Atrocities against children have seen an increase in the country day by day according to survey reports.

In a similar incident, Gomtipur Police in Gujarat arrested a man for allegedly raping his minor granddaughter on July 28. According to reports, when the victim's parents were out for work, her grandfather lured her into the house and raped her.

The incident came to light, when the mother came home in the evening, the girl, who was complaining of pain in the private parts, told her mother what happened. Later the woman took the minor to hospital and then registered a case at the local police station.

In another incident, a 45-year-old man was arrested by police on August 1 for allegedly impregnating his 15-year-old daughter. The incident occurred at Musunuru near Kavali, Andhra Pradesh.

The incident came to light after the victim's mother and the victim visited the Government Area Hospital in Kavali, urging them to abort the pregnancy on July 30 evening. The hospital authority and doctor alerted the Kavali Police station.
