The Narendra Modi-led NDA government has officially reconstituted the NITI Aayog, emphasizing its pivotal role in India’s developmental framework. The newly structured council will consist of four full-time members and 15 union ministers, reflecting a blend of expertise and political representation, including members from BJP allies.

Leadership and Full-Time Members
Prime Minister Narendra Modi remains the chairperson of NITI Aayog, reaffirming his commitment to transformative governance. Economist Suman K Bery continues as the vice-chairperson, guiding the think tank's strategic initiatives. The reconstitution retains notable full-time members such as scientist V K Saraswat, agricultural economist Ramesh Chand, pediatrician V K Paul, and macro-economist Arvind Virmani, all of whom bring valuable insights into various sectors crucial for national progress.

Ex-officio members and Special Invitees
The revamped NITI Aayog includes four ex-officio members: Union Ministers Rajnath Singh (Defence), Amit Shah (Home Affairs), Shivraj Singh Chouhan (Agriculture), and Nirmala Sitharaman (Finance). Their roles will facilitate the integration of governmental policies with NITI Aayog’s developmental goals. Union ministers Nitin Gadkari (Heavy Industries and Steel), Jagat Prakash Nadda (Health), H D Kumaraswamy (Heavy Industries and Steel), Jitan Ram Manjhi (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises), and Rajiv Ranjan Singh, alias Lalan Singh (Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying), will also be special invitees to the reconvened NITI Aayog.

Other special invitees include Union Ministers Virendra Kumar (Social Justice and Empowerment), Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu (Civil Aviation), Jual Oram (Tribal Affairs), Annpurna Devi (Women and Child Development), Rao Inderjit Singh (Statistics and Program Execution) and Chirag Paswan (Food Manufacturing Organizations). This inclusion of various ministries highlights the collaborative approach of NITI Aayog in addressing the nation's diverse challenges.

Inclusivity and Political Representation
Notably, several special invitees come from NDA partner parties, including H D Kumaraswamy from JD-S and Jitan Ram Manjhi from Hindustani Awam Morcha. This inclusivity is designed to strengthen the NITI Aayog’s mandate of fostering cooperative federalism, ensuring that a range of voices contribute to the nation’s development agenda. The representation of parties like JD-U and TDP further underlines PM Modi’s strategy to unite various stakeholders under the NITI Aayog framework.

Vision for the Future
NITI Aayog, established in 2015 as a successor to the Planning Commission, is committed to fostering innovation and holistic development across India. With PM Modi at the helm, the Aayog aims to embark on transformative initiatives that promise to redefine India’s future. The recent reconstitution aligns with ongoing changes in the council of ministers, reinforcing the Aayog’s critical role in shaping policies that will drive India towards sustainable growth and prosperity.
