New Delhi: For Bijayant Jay Panda who was suspended from the Biju Janata Dal last year, it is a fight for self-respect. He is giving a fight to BJD's Rajya Sabha MP Anubhav Mohanty.  

Kendrapara is extremely significant for the Biju Janata Dal because Odisha Chief Naveen Patnaik's father Biju Patnaik, the man after whom the BJD party was named, was elected thrice from that seat. 

What goes for Panda is that he has fought from this seat twice and won. But what goes against him is he is against a film actor. 

While resigning from the Biju Janata Dal in May 2018, Panda had said he was heartbroken. Hence many construe the battle of Kendrapara as less of a political struggle and more of a personal war for Panda
