A CISF constable, identified as Kulwinder Kaur, allegedly slapped Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut at the Chandigarh airport. Kaur, the sister of a farmer leader involved in protests against the now-repealed farm laws, joined CISF in 2009 and has been with the aviation security group at the airport since 2021. She is from Punjab’s Sultanpur Lodhi and is a mother of two.

Kaur reportedly expressed dissatisfaction with Ranaut's stance on farmer protests, leading to the altercation. An agitated Kaur was captured in a video circulating on social media, where she mentioned Ranaut's comments about farmers protesting for monetary reasons.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has initiated a court of inquiry and filed an FIR against Kaur. National Commission for Women chairperson Rekha Sharma has called for action on the matter. Former Himachal Pradesh chief minister Jai Ram Thakur and state public works minister Vikramaditya Singh condemned the incident, emphasizing the need for appropriate action.

Ranaut, in a video statement titled “Shocking rise in terror and violence in Punjab,” assured her safety after the incident. She recounted the event, expressing concern over increasing terrorism in Punjab.

Ranaut has been a prominent voice supporting the ruling party on various issues, including the Citizenship (Amendment) Act and farmer protests. However, during the agitation against the farm laws, she allegedly misidentified a woman farmer from Punjab, sparking controversy.

The incident underscores the tensions surrounding the farmer protests and highlights the importance of maintaining professionalism and security protocols, especially in sensitive locations like airports.
