The internet is full of strange videos of people trying to go viral and get their 15 minutes of fame; however, some occasional videos restore your faith in humanity. One such incident has surfaced online from Kerala, where a man can be seen performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on a tiny bird who was unconscious on the roadside. 

A video of the rescue has gone viral, in which a man identified as Shajir in the Malappuram area of Kerala saves the life of the myna. The incident was reported by a Tamil news media outlet, Thanthi TV, and states, 'The Kerala's man's act saved the bird and let it fly again into the sky.'

 

 

In the video, Shajir can be seen trying CPR on the unconscious bird repeatedly by pressing his thumbs on the body of the bird to pump blood into the brain and regulate respiration and heart function. As the video progresses, the bird can be seen fluttering its wings after a series of compressions. The bird gains consciousness and flies away after getting better.

Shajir placed the bird near a bucket filled with water. He probably wanted to feed the bird some water to cool down its body. After several rounds of CPR, the bird fluttered its wings. Shajir placed it on the ground and the bird took a flight. 

Bird flu in Kerala

Currently, certain areas of Kerala are experiencing bird flu. It has claimed the lives of several cows, cranes, and migratory birds. Amid the outbreak of bird flu, the state government has announced a ban on poultry farming and has issued precautionary guidelines. As per news reports, Kerala's animal husbandry minister J Chinchurani said, "The spread of virus even to crows, cranes and migratory birds was causing concerns and measures like year-long ban on poultry farming need to be considered."
