Bengaluru: The tallest statue of Lord Hanuman will soon come up in Karnataka's Hampi, Swami Govind Anand Saraswati, president of the Hanumat Janmbhumi Theertha Kshetra Trust, announced in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya on Tuesday.
The announcement was made by Swami Govind Anand Saraswati three days after Hanuman Jayanti. The statue will be 215 metres tall and the project will cost Rs 1,200 crore.
The statue will be restricted to 215 meters as the members of the Hanumat Janmbhumi Theertha Kshetra Trust feel Hanuman’s statue cannot be higher than the 221 metre Lord Ram's statue being built in Ayodhya as he was his eternal devotee.
Swami Govind Anand Saraswati said the Lord Hanuman statue will be the tallest statue of the deity across the world and will be erected at his birthplace Pampapur Kishkindha in Bellary, near Hampi.
The funds for the statue will be collected through a nation-wide Rath Yatra, Swami Govind added
He also promised an 80 feet rath for Ram Janmabhoomi which will be prepared at a cost of Rs 2 crore over the next two years.
