Indian Railways is looking to upgrade the IRCTC e-ticketing website to make it more user-friendly and effective
Bengaluru: When you want to travel to a distant city or place using a train, the first thing you have to do is to book a seat. To do this, you have to use the IRCTC ticketing website of the Indian Railways.
To make it more friendly and effective, the Railways has decided to upgrade it using the latest features.
Its importance becomes more crucial considering that it is the first point of contact for the people. So the Railways ministry is looking to upgrade it.
Union Railway Minister Piyush Minister said, “Under the new digital India, more and more people are now moving towards booking the tickets online rather than going to the reservation counters and therefore IRCTC website needs to really double its efforts to constantly upgrade itself”.

IRCTC, is a publicly listed government-owned company which made its debut in September 1999 with a paid-up capital of Rs 20 crore, and has grown up to a market capitalisation of more than Rs 20000 crore.
It has a monopoly in the area of operations — catering, tourism and online ticketing for Indian Railways. It had net cash of Rs 1,535 crore as on September 2020 and paid 38% of its profits as dividend last year.
