India has decided to vaccinate those people who are aged 45 and have no comorbidities as well
Bengaluru: India’s vaccination drive is only getting bigger and better as the Union government has decided to vaccinate everyone aged 45 and above starting April 1.
Union minister Prakash Javdekar informed the country about the development in a presser today.
It has been decided that from 1st April, the vaccine will open for everybody above 45 years of age. We request that all eligible should immediately register and get vaccinated, he said.
It might be noted that till now, only those above 60 years of age and those above 45 – with comorbidities – were eligible for the jab.
Now that comorbidity condition has been set aside for those 45 and above, the minister urged everyone eligible to register and get jabbed.
He also informed that India had till now inoculated more than 4.85 crore people.
In this regard, he said, “In the last 24 hours, 32.54 people got vaccines. In February daily average was around 3.50 lakh every day, but in March, the daily average [of vaccination] has reached around 15 lakh”.

While India continues to vaccinate its people, it should also be noted that India has exported several lakhs of doses of vaccines to more than 10 countries.
